What is Simply404?

Simply404 is an automated broken link checker that monitors your website for dead links, 404 errors, and other link issues. We scan all pages on your website and provide detailed reports showing exactly where broken links are found, helping you maintain a healthy website and improve user experience.

How does it work?

Simply add your website URL and Simply404 will automatically discover and scan all pages. Here's what happens:

  1. We crawl your website starting from your homepage
  2. We discover all internal links and check them
  3. We also check external links to make sure they're valid
  4. We generate comprehensive reports showing broken links and where they're found
  5. We continue monitoring your website on your chosen schedule

What types of broken links can you detect?

We detect various types of link issues:

  • 404 errors - Page not found
  • 500 errors - Server errors
  • Timeouts - Server didn't respond in time
  • Broken redirects - Redirects that lead to non-existent pages
  • Invalid URLs - Malformed or broken URL syntax
  • SSL errors - Certificate issues on HTTPS links

Plans & Pricing

Is there a free plan?

Yes! Our Starter plan is completely free and includes up to 5 websites with 1,000 pages each, daily scans, and detailed reports. No credit card required to sign up.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?

Absolutely! You can change your plan at any time from your account settings. Upgrades take effect immediately, while downgrades will apply at the start of your next billing cycle.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover) through our secure payment processor Stripe. Your payment information is encrypted and never stored on our servers.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes, you can cancel anytime with no cancellation fees. Your access will continue until the end of your current billing period. You can always reactivate your account later.

Technical

How often are my websites scanned?

Scan frequency depends on your plan. The Starter plan includes daily scans, Pro plan offers hourly scans, and Enterprise plan allows custom scan frequencies. You can also trigger manual scans anytime.

Do you check external links?

Yes! We check both internal links (links to pages on your own website) and external links (links to other websites). This ensures you're not linking to broken resources anywhere.

Will the crawler slow down my website?

No. Our crawler is designed to be polite and respects your server's resources. We throttle our requests and respect robots.txt rules. The impact on your server is minimal, similar to a few regular visitors browsing your site.

What happens if I exceed my page limit?

If your website exceeds the page limit for your plan, we'll notify you and scans will be limited to your plan's maximum. You can upgrade to a higher plan to scan more pages. We'll never charge you extra without your explicit consent.

Can I exclude certain pages from being scanned?

Yes. You can use your robots.txt file to control which pages our crawler accesses. We respect all standard robots.txt directives. Additionally, Enterprise plan customers can configure custom exclusion rules.

How do I get support?

All plans include email support. Pro and Enterprise customers get priority support with faster response times. Enterprise customers also have access to dedicated support channels. Contact us anytime.

What is your response time for support requests?

Starter plan: We typically respond within 48 hours. Pro plan: Priority support with 24-hour response time. Enterprise plan: Dedicated support with 4-hour response time during business hours.
